About
Join Chef Peggy to explore the many flavors of Suriname, a true melting pot of ingredients.
The tiny South American country of Suriname is home to people of Dutch, African, Indian, Indonesian and Indigenous descent, and the cuisine wonderfully reflects these cultures and the country's tropical climate and location on the Atlantic Ocean.
Begin with a traditional West African peanut soup, then explore Indonesian influences with a soy and ginger-basted baked chicken accompanied by bamie, Indonesian-style egg noodles from the island of Java. Finish the evening by making bojo, a rich cake made with coconut, cassava, sugar and coconut milk.
Guests are welcome to provide wine and beer to enjoy during the class.
