Slow-Cooker Sweet Potatoes with Applesauce

Description
Your slow cooker can be a lifesaver during holiday meals when sweet potatoes are a must and the oven is stuffed with turkey or ham and other fixings.
Ingredients:
- 3 to 4 medium sweet potatoes (2 lb), peeled and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 1 1/2 cups applesauce
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts, toasted
Directions:
- Place sweet potatoes in 2- to 3 1/2-quart slow cooker. Mix remaining ingredients except nuts; spoon over potatoes.
- Cover and cook on low heat setting 6 to 8 hours or until potatoes are very tender.
- Sprinkle with nuts. This recipe was tested in slow cookers with heating elements in the side and bottom of the cooker, not in cookers that stand only on a heated base. For slow cookers with just a heated base, follow the manufacturer’s directions for layering ingredients and choosing a temperature.
