Simple Meatballs

Description

We’ve been writing about this popular meatball recipe in Betty’s Big Red™ Cookbooks since 1969, and for good reason! All you need to make them is 15 minutes of prep and a few basic ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1/2 cup Progresso™ Italian Style Bread Crumbs
  • 1/4 cup 2% milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped (1/4 cup)
  • 1 large egg
  • Serve with, if desired
  • Hot cooked pasta, any shape
  • Pasta sauce, any variety, heated

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 400°F. Line 13x9-inch pan with foil; spray with cooking spray.
  2. In large bowl, mix all ingredients just until combined.
  3. Shape mixture into 24 (1 1/2-inch) meatballs by rolling into balls between the palms of your hands, using a meat baller, or a cookie scoop.
  4. Place meatballs 1 inch apart on a baking sheet with sides.
  5. Bake uncovered 18 to 22 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160°F and meatballs are no longer pink in the center.
  6. Serve over pasta and top with your favorite sauce.
