Puff Pastry Pear Roses

Description

If you're looking for a dish that’s guaranteed to dazzle at your next holiday get-together, these puff pastry roses are a total winner. With just a handful of ingredients like frozen puff pastry, creamy Brie, and thinly sliced pears, you can easily whip up a stunning appetizer that’ll have your guests raving.

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (17.3 oz) frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 3 pears, very thinly sliced
  • 4 ounces Brie cheese, sliced into 1/4 x 1/4-inch thick matchsticks
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 3 thyme sprigs, plus more for garnish
  • Pinch salt

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 400°F. Roll each puff pastry sheet to 1/8-inch thick, 12x12-inch rectangle. Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut each sheet into 6 12x2-inch strips. You will have 12 strips total.
  2. Place the pear slices on the top half of each strip, round sides up and peaking over the edge by about 1/4-inch, and overlapping each slice by about 1/2-inch. Place the Brie strips in a single row directly under the pear slices. Fold the bottom half of the dough up and over the Brie and bottom half of the pear slices, leaving the rounded parts exposed. Press to seal.
  3. Starting at one end of the strip, roll the dough up to form a rose-shaped pastry. Place the rose in a non-stick muffin tin. Repeat with the remaining strips. Brush with melted butter.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes, place 1 sheet of aluminum foil over the pastries, and bake for 20 to 25 minutes more until the edges are golden brown and fully cooked in the center.
  5. In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the honey, water, thyme, and salt. Microwave for 30 seconds and stir together. Let sit at room temperature while the roses bake.
  6. Remove thyme and drizzle roses with honey syrup. Sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves. Serve warm.
